Finance Law has proven experience in all aspects of finance law.

We act for major banks operating in New Zealand and a number of non-bank financial institutions. We assist borrower clients with structuring and implementation of all forms of financing. Our practice covers all aspects of banking and financial services. The Finance Law team has acted for many UK, NZ and international corporates and financial institutions leading on both domestic and multi-jurisdictional transactions.

Finance Law’s experience covers:

  • Property and construction finance: advising banks, mezzanine funders and borrowers on institutional, investment and property  development/construction financings.
  • Corporate and acquisition finance: advising trading and investment banks, mezzanine financiers and borrowers on many significant corporate and acquisition financing transactions.
  • Structured and asset-based finance: advising financiers and borrowers, receivables financings and tax-efficient funding structures.
  • Project finance: advising banks, multi-lateral agencies and sponsors on a wide range of project financing transactions.
  • Consumer finance: advising in relation to consumer credit law with particular expertise on the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act and preparing standard form financing documents for clients in the consumer finance area.
  • Financial services regulation: regularly being involved in regulatory issues relating to personal property securities, AML/CFT and financial adviser and financial service provider regulation and Reserve Bank and non-bank deposit taker legislation.
  • Loan and security documentation: One of our specialities is to create, maintain and implement loan and security documentation suites for a number of our clients.
  • Discharge services: Our mortgage lender clients use us for their professional mortgage discharge services.
